I’m attempting to form an internet radio where opensource musicians can share their work and receive donations from those individuals who wish to support their art. However, I need donations in order to simply get the thing started, and am not having any luck. I’m not seeking donations here, only asking what the best way to start generating an income in order to get the site off the ground, as well as advice on how to effectively attract opensource musicians. So far, I can’t get any advice out of anyone and it’s getting very frustrating.
The plan is to have artist pages (somewhat like Newgrounds) with PayPal donation buttons for each individual artist, as well as a donation button for the site as a whole. I’d take a 5% commission on individual donations, and anything donated to the site as a whole would be split up among all artists who were active when the donation was made (5% of that figure also being retained for overhead). Is this reasonable? Please help!
